“Silent Sky” – National AACTFest Company

Kokomo Civic Theatre’s production of Silent Sky, about astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, was one of 12 productions from throughout the US to qualify for the American Association of Community Theatre’s National Festival in Louisville in June.
To get to the National AACTFest, we won first place for Outstanding Production at the Indiana Community Theatre Festival which was held in Goshen, IN in March. At the state festival we received awards for Outstanding Ensemble, Outstanding Accent (Elizabeth McQuiston), Outstanding Costume Design (Beth Metcalf), and Outstanding Set Design (Steve Hughes).
Following its win at the state level, KCT’s production of Silent Sky moved on to the 5 state (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin) Region III AACTFest which was held in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin in April, where we also received first place for Outstanding Production. Elizabeth McQuiston won an award for Excellence in Acting in a Supporting Role for her performance as Williamina Flemming. We also received an award for Excellence in Props.
At the National AACTFest we received an award for Outstanding Prop Design (Steve Hughes). We are very proud to have been one of the 12 theatre companies from throughout the US to represent our community and state at this national competition.
We would like to thank all our supporters who made this journey possible. We would also like to thank our cast members, Reilley Cessna, Elizabeth McQuistion, Angie Bowman, Noah Cicalo, Michaela Fuller, Tucker Metcalf, and Amanda Duncan and our crew, Beth Metcalf – director, Eli Cooper – sound, and Steve Hughes – set and lights, for all the work they put in to take Silent Sky to the State, Regional, and National Festival.
We are truly lucky to have this caliber of Nationally Recognized, Award Winning Community Theatre available in Kokomo.
